We have in stock the regular flu shot (Fluzone) and the intranasal vaccine (Flumist) but the vaccine stock is rapidly declining as people rush in for their immunizations. We have private vaccine (insurance) and public vaccine (Vaccine for Children program through the state). If your children (under the age of 18 years) do not have insurance, they will be able to get the public vaccine for an administration fee of $14.50.
This flu season, H1N1 flu vaccine is bundled with the seasonal flu vaccine and can be administered by shot or by nasal spray. For children and parents without insurance coverage, Flumist is $35 and Fluzone (injectable vaccine) is $25.
Flumist cannot be administered to children under 24 months of age or patients with asthma, recent wheezing, immunity problems or on long-term aspirin therapy.
We strongly encourage parents with infants under 6 months of age and siblings of under 6 month infants to get the flu vaccine in order to protect the young infant.
Please feel free to call our office for any updates or questions.
For more information on the Flu vaccine (due in October) please visit the CDC (www.flu.gov) for latest news.
